Mantova, Italy

Set right opposite the train station in the beautiful town of Mantova, the Albergo Bianchi Stazione Hotel is a gem of a find.  Housed in an old palace, the family run hotel is relatively basic but it is clean and comfortable.  It also has a fully wheelchair accessible room, which can accommodate a family on request.

The room is large, with plenty of turning space for wheelchairs.  There is a desk/dressing table with room to get underneath and hard floors throughout make it easy to propel a chair.  The bathroom, while again fairly basic, offers a roll in shower and bathroom counters with space to get a wheelchair underneath.

The communal areas are simple but well maintained.  There is a a good breakfast buffet on offer and there is also a bar available for drinks which you can relax with in the garden.  There is no restaurant but being only a few minutes walk from the town centre this is not an issue.  The reception is staffed 24/7 – staff are helpful and happy to give advice on places to visit and things to do in the city.  Another bonus for a city centre hotel is indoor parking.
