I’m dealing with a weird one on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. When I’m stuck in stop and go traffic around Abu Dhabi, the temperature gauge starts creeping up past the middle, sometimes almost to the three quarter mark. But as soon as I get moving on the highway, it drops right back down to normal. I’ve checked the coolant level and it’s fine, no visible leaks anywhere. A buddy said it could be the electric fan not kicking on properly or maybe the radiator is partially clogged. I don’t wanna just throw a new fan at it without knowing for sure. I’ve been looking for Premium Radiator Repair Abu Dhabi shops that can actually test the fan clutch, check the coolant flow, and maybe do a thermal imaging scan to find hot spots. Has anyone had this exact symptom on a JK and found the culprit? I’m hoping it’s not the water pump because that looks like a pain to replace on these. Also wondering if using a higher percentage of water instead of coolant would help in this heat or if that’s a bad idea. Really don’t wanna get stranded on the side of the road with an overheated engine, especially in summer. Any recommendations for a diagnostic shop that won’t just guess would be awesome. Thanks everyone.

Overheating in traffic but cooling down at highway speed is textbook electric fan failure on a JK. Moving air at speed compensates for the fan not working but stationary traffic exposes it immediately. Check if the fan is actually spinning at full speed when the temperature rises.

Partially clogged radiator causing this specific pattern is less likely than a fan issue but worth checking with a flow test if the fan turns out to be working correctly. Both diagnoses are testable without guessing parts first.

Water pump failure on a JK would typically cause overheating under load at highway speed rather than only in traffic. The symptom pattern you’re describing points away from the water pump and toward the cooling fan circuit specifically.

Running a higher water ratio instead of proper coolant in UAE heat is a bad idea despite feeling counterintuitive. Coolant has corrosion inhibitors and a higher boiling point than water alone, both of which matter significantly in this climate.

Thermal imaging to find hot spots in the radiator core is a smart diagnostic step if the fan checks out fine. A partially blocked radiator section shows up clearly on thermal imaging and confirms whether a flush or replacement is actually needed before spending money on either.
