The iconic Star Ferry across Hong Kong‘s Victoria harbour enables passengers to cross from Hong Kong island to the Kowloon Peninsula.  The ferry has been operational since 1888 and carries tens of millions of people each year.  The journey has been named by National Geographic as one of “Fifty places of a lifetime’.  As well as a simple crossing, passengers can opt for an extended tour around the harbour or for the best experience try crossing at 8pm to witness the nightly Symphony of Lights, a dazzling show which illuminates the whole harbour and is a spectacular sight to see.  The show, which started in 2004, has quickly become one of the world’s most famous light shows and with its lasers, LED screens and lighting accompanied by a soundtrack from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra it is easy to see why.

General accessibility information

There are ramps to access all of the ferries.  Uniformed staff are very helpful and efficient is ensuring all passengers can get on and off easily. They will provide any assistance needed.

The lower deck of each ferry can accommodate four wheelchair users and provides designated areas for disabled passengers.

Disabled passengers can also enjoy a discounted rate.  The website states that this is upon presentation of a Registration Card for People with Disabilities but when we used it no such proof was requested.
