A Wheel and Away

Nörra Berget Friluftsmuseum, Sundsvall

Sundsvall, Sweden

Welcome to Sundsvall’s outdoor museum!

The town of Sundsvall is in a valley between two hills. Set on one of these hills, the North (Nørra), on the outskirts of town, the site is an open air museum allowing visitors to travel back in time.  Come and see how people lived in the past.  Have a look at many of the traditional houses dotted around the site.

There is a youth hostel on site so visitors can stay and really make the most of the surrounding countryside.  There are plenty of activities going on or it is possible to walk to the top of the mountain and take in the view over Sundsvall.

The site is mostly accessible with gentle slopes and navigable surfaces.  Wheelchair users should be aware that in places there is gravel, although this is generally fairly thinly laid and shouldn’t cause a problem.  Manual wheelchairs visiting without a carer may find some of the terrain a little challenging.  For people with visual difficulties, please be aware that this is a natural site and there may be trip hazards.
