Dubai – coolant leak but can’t find where, any experienced radiator shop?

My 2017 X3 has been losing coolant slowly for a couple of months. I top it up every two weeks but can never see a puddle under the car. The expansion tank level drops but there are no visible leaks from the hoses or the tank itself. I’m worried it’s a tiny crack in the radiator or maybe the water pump is weeping. A friend who had a similar issue on his 5 series told me to find a place that does Premium Radiator Repair Service and knows how to pressure test the system properly and use UV dye if needed. Has anyone here dealt with a slow coolant loss that turned out to be a hairline crack? I’m also curious if they check the oil for coolant contamination because I want to rule out a head gasket issue before spending money on a radiator. Just don’t want to keep buying coolant every few weeks. Any recommendations around Al Quoz or Sheikh Zayed Road would be really helpful.

Coolant loss without visible puddles on an X3 is often a weeping water pump seal or a hairline radiator crack that evaporates before reaching the ground in this heat. UV dye with a proper pressure test is the only reliable way to find either.

Checking oil for coolant contamination is absolutely the right instinct before spending money on external leak repairs. Mayonnaise consistency under the oil cap or a sweet smell in the oil are the quick checks worth doing first to rule out a head gasket on any BMW with unexplained coolant loss.

Water pump weeping on an N20 or B48 X3 at this age is a very common finding during coolant loss diagnosis. The weep hole on BMW water pumps drips slowly enough that it evaporates before pooling in UAE heat, which is exactly why you cannot find the puddle.

Pressure testing the cold system is essential since some hairline cracks in plastic radiator tanks only open under cold contraction and seal again when the plastic expands with heat. A warm pressure test alone can miss these entirely.

Two weeks between top ups sounds manageable until it suddenly is not. Slow coolant leaks that stay slow for months can accelerate quickly when the crack or seal fails completely, which is a much worse situation than finding and fixing it now.
