Golf R brake pedal feels a bit wooden lately, anyone else find the stock setup underwhelming?

Had my 2019 Golf R for about eight months now and I absolutely love the way it pulls through the gears especially now that the weather’s getting properly hot and the turbo seems to love the warm intake air but I’ve noticed over the last few weeks that the brake pedal just doesn’t have that initial bite I remember from when I first picked it up. It’s not like the car isn’t stopping it’s more like I have to push a tiny bit further into the travel before anything meaningful happens and it’s making my heel and toe attempts feel a bit sloppy if I’m being honest. I checked the pads through the Pretoria wheels and there’s still material there but they look a bit glazed maybe from sitting in traffic with the AC blasting and riding the brakes gently for ages on end. My wife’s Tiguan had a similar dull feeling last year and we ended up doing a full Volkswagen brake repair and pad replacement service at a place near the Greens that actually made a noticeable difference just by swapping in some fresh fluid and a slightly more aggressive street pad compound. I’m not trying to turn the Golf into a track car or anything like that but I’d love to get that confident pedal feel back without having to spend a fortune on a big brake kit that I honestly don’t need for my daily commute down to JLT and back. Anyone else with an MQB platform car found a specific pad that wakes the pedal up a bit without squealing like a bus every time you pull up to a coffee shop?
